This year’s World Robot Conference is co-sponsored by the Beijing Municipal People’s Government, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the China Association for Science and Technology, with the theme of “Open Innovation, Sharing the Future”. The conference revealed that last year, China’s installed capacity of industrial robots accounted for more than 50% of the world’s total, ranking it firmly as the world’s largest market. Service and special robots have also achieved large-scale applications in logistics, medical care, construction and other fields. China’s robot industry has achieved vigorous development, and the scale of the industry has continued to grow. In 2022, the operating income of the robot industry will exceed 170 billion yuan (about NT$713.1 billion), and the output of industrial, service, and special robots will grow rapidly. At the same time, there are 273 specialized and new “little giant” companies in the field of robotics, and 10 robotics companies have grown into individual champions in the manufacturing industry.
The scale of China’s industrial robot market has grown rapidly, with an annual growth rate of more than 20% in recent years. Due to the intensification of the aging trend, the problems of the reduction of the manufacturing workforce and the increase in labor costs have become more and more significant.
Data show that in 2021, the number of employed people in China’s manufacturing industry will be 147 million, which is 22 million fewer than in 2012. During the same period, the number of employed people in the service industry will increase by 32% to 365 million. Therefore, machine replacement has become the choice of many enterprises. . Experts say that at present, China can no longer rely on a continuously expanding labor force to drive economic growth, and automation is the most reliable way to improve the productivity of existing workers.
